Alpha Course at Woodside Methodist Church

 

Starting on September 30th for ten Tuesday evenings, 7pm-9.30pm (dinner included)

 

This Alpha course is inspired by the HOPE '08 initiative for Autumn, 'Hope Explored', and provides an opportunity for all Churches Together in Horsforth to invite people to explore faith in new ways. If you are interested in attending, and/or inviting someone else to attend, please contact Rev'd George Bailey (0113 258 2448/ george.bailey@methodist.org.uk). We would also welcome people from other churches to help run the course. Posters, flyers and registration forms will be sent to all churches by the first week of September.

What is the point of life?

 

What happens when we die?

 

Is forgiveness possible?

 

What relevance does Jesus have for our lives today?

 

 

 

 

 

WHAT IS ALPHA?

 

The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith.

 

It's relaxed, low key, friendly and fun.

 

There is a meal together at the beginning of each session which gives an opportunity to get to know each other.

 

Listen, learn, discuss and discover. And ask anything.  Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile.

 

And it's supported by all the main Christian denominations.

 

 

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

 

The Alpha course consists of a series of talks looking at topics such as 'Who is Jesus?' and 'Why and how do I pray?'  After each talk we divide into small groups for a time of discussion.

 

 

WHO IS ALPHA FOR?

 

Alpha is for everyone, especially:

• Those wanting to investigate Christianity
• New Christians
• Newcomers to the church
• Those who want to brush up on the basics

WHAT WILL IT COST?

 

There is no charge for the Alpha course.

 

 

WHEN AND WHERE?

 

Our next Alpha course starts on Thursday 8th May 2008 at 7:30pm and will run for approximately 10 weeks.

 

Each evening commences with a light meal (no contribution required) followed by a talk and an opportunity to discuss the issues raised in a relaxed and non-threatening style.
